About
Colne Endeavour is a welcoming, charity-run community band open to all—whether you're looking to learn, play, or simply enjoy making music.

Founded in 1972 as the Colne Endeavour Music Club, the group was created to encourage and support everyone, including people with disabilities, to enjoy learning and making music. It originated from the Wingfield Trust, established by Bert Lyons in 1960, and has since evolved into the Colne Endeavour Band, featuring wind, brass, and percussion instruments.

The band embraces musicians of all ages, abilities and disabilities. If you have always felt that learning to play an instrument was out of reach, or it's a while since you last played, we encourage you to take the leap and join us!

Our weekly sessions include full band rehearsals as well as one-to-one tuition.
We meet every Friday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm at St. Margaret’s Church, Stansted Road, Colchester, CO2 8RA. There’s no need to book—just drop by, and you’ll receive a warm welcome!

Throughout the year, we perform at a variety of venues, including churches, residential homes, day centres, garden parties, fetes, and BBQs. Our annual carol service at St. Botolph’s Church, Colchester, draws visitors from across Essex, and we also feature in performances at the Headgate Theatre as part of their concert programme.
